Mothers day!

Today was mothers day! And i have eight minutes to write this entry before the video i'm editing finishes bouncing out! I've decided that i'm not going to do this everyday from now on. I'm not stopping the blog, just will be updating it every few days instead. This way i don't have to rush posts and feel like i'm just typing aimlessly for twenty minutes. PLUS it gives me more time in the evenings to do things. Nice things.

Yesterday was the day of Taz's birthday celebrations! And believe me, they were fucking good.

Taz and James picked me up around sevenish to go back to Taz's for some pre-drinks before heading out in to town. We drank various spirits mixed with coke, and raced eachother on motorbikes for a good few hours before another of Taz's friends, Ollie showed up. We left about an hour later, to get to The Dragon! This is where the serious drinking began, and by twelve o'clock Taz was in the bathroom chucking his guts up all over the floor hahahaha. Me and dan spent a few minutes consoling him before carrying him outside, and ultimately to Tesco so his dad could pick him up. Happy birthday Taz! haha.

The rest of the night was standard fare really, plenty of drinking and dancing in DB's, then some heated arguments between a couple we were out with, which i was too heavily involved with for my own liking. But whatever, got home at four, and slept through to eleven this morning. Didn't even feel the effects of the clocks going forwards either which was a positive!

When i eventually got downstairs i handed over the mothers day gifts and spent a few hours with my mumma! Then did some gardening for her, ripping up tree stumps so she could dig out the roots and stuff.

Also headed round Jo's for half an hour to see her before she headed back to Cardiff. I had a wonderful friday evening with her!

IT WAS A PRODUCTIVE DAY!

Today was a day of non stop productive-ness! I did loads of video shooting today, which consisted of promo of my friends Ross and Adams band called Scourge Of Impalement. They're an extremely heavy metal band based locally, and my god are they AWESOME.

So this morning i woke up, had my breakfast and made some lunch, knowing that i was going to be out all day. Got into uni at around twelve, and dived straight in to setting up cameras and filming the days events. It was good fun hanging out with the band, and may have secured some future work from them because of my performance today! Which of course is good news!

Once i was done with those guys i headed into one of the studios on the top floor of uni, and found my friend James recording an E.P with another great local band called Pembleton. Proper old school punk/new age punk. I sat in with them while they did some guitar tracking, and it was really fun to see how they work! They're all good guys, and like to wind each other up consistently haha.

Ross also showed me a demo for a doom project we're thinking of starting! Lets just say, it'll make you feel evil once it's done!

After the day of filming, editing, and making sure i got credit for said filming, i got home and instantly picked up my guitar. I was stressed out by the end of today, and needed to vent some anger. I wasn't stressed with anyone in particular, just managed to get myself into a bad mood. I lost the bracelet Jo bought for me yesterday, and that REALLY fucked me off for a while. Luckily it wasn't the ring she bought me last year, if i lost that i would have been devastated seeing as it never leaves my finger!

Typing this entry to King Creosote's album; That Might Well Be It, Darling. This is his latest release, and is the first time i've listened to it! It's really good fun, and has some great guest musicians on it! Highly recommended so far!

Another lazy sunday!

Today was the day of the dreaded staff meeting, so obviously i spent as much of the day as i could in bed avoiding the prospect of that. I eventually got up at eleven. Had a relatively small breakfast of a protein shake, and a banana. Didn't need much else due to the lack of energy i needed haha. I milled around tidying my room, and doing other things that seemed to be reserved or sundays. You know, doing your laundry, dusting, listening to music, playing guitar, the usual stuff. Then made myself epic chicken and mayo sandwiches! They were so good that I felt dirty afterwords.

After the afternoons antics I headed in to work for the staff meeting. It was the first time i've been to one for about a year, and it was as boring as I was expecting... We all sat around a whiteboard to get a gay ass presentation from our CPC specialist. Sorry if your reading Luke, but it was shit mate, up your game. After the meeting though me, Karn, and Mikey headed down to All Stars to play some pool!

Now when you bring Mikey along to play pool, you expect him to be on the table most of the night, and maybe get a cheeky win over him every now and then. NOPE. Tonight Mikey decided to play like a fucking monster, but seeing as his cup final is coming up on saturday i can let him off. I did beat him once mind, after some tricky shots, and lucky covering shots haha. Karn won one game i think, but to be honest he did mainly play Mikey all night. We finished the session with a few rounds of killer, which was great fun! Definitely go down as the three of us again soon hopefully!

Got home, had dinner, now typing this up while listening to Mumford & Sons' second album; Babel. LOVE this band, they're sort of my guilty pleasure. I saw them in London last year with Jo, and it's one of the best gigs i've been to so far! This bands first album really captured my imagination when I was younger, this one was definitely not a disappointment when it was finally released!

It's back to work tomorrow, but after a day in the studio with Iain Eccleston and The Blue Horizon guys! Will give details tomorrow!

Another great day!

Spent all day today with my baby in Cardiff! We decided today was too nice to not go out and do something, SO WE WENT ROUND A CASTLE. Cardiff castle to be exact. We got up at around eleven o'clock, washed etc. Then I had an instant pasta pot snack thing for breakfast which was interesting... THEN we headed off to the castle! Here are loads of photos;

I loved this tree.

The castle grounds!

Spooky underground tunnels...

Spooky Jo in spooky underground tunnels...

I learnt that Jo can't take a photo to save her life today!

I also Dressed up as an army guy. YEAH.

The great hall of the house on the grounds.

 Inside the main keep!

A sexy fireplace in the house.

The houses library, which i wasn't allowed to look around. *sadface*

Jo played dress up too!

Although i look better in it!

She did rock this German coat/Russian hat combo though!

On top of the keep! Jo didn't like it, so we snapped this quickly...

Yes that is a big gun i'm playing on.

The outside of the big house!

This ceiling was in a room called the "Arab room". Was fucking gorgeous in person.

Jo said this would be fun. It was!

The main keep! Looks awesome.

OMG CASTLE!

I'm a fucking German officer here for some reason...

So yeah! The castle was awesome! We said we'd do it one day i was up, and today was obviously the day! I love castles, and national trust places, and general places of a historical theme! And luckily enough Jo likes them too! (Or says she does, which is good enough for me)

After the castle we headed out into the city, and didn't want to head back to hers just yet. So we walked back through some of the arcades dotted around, and found a tea shop that we liked the look of from my last visit! We headed in, ordered our drinks and sat down in amazing wingbacks! Jo had a coconut milkshake;

And i had a cafetiere of coffee all to myself;

It was a really nice day! Definitely made the most the short time i had this weekend!

We headed back to Jo's place after the coffee and milkshakes, and chilled out for the last few hours we had together this weekend. I had to come back early due to a staff meeting tomorrow at work! Boo.

I left Jo's at half five, and got to the train station to find the whole placed sectioned off like a prisoner of war camp! I'd forgotten about the trouble the game in Cardiff would cause today. By the way well done to Ireland for winning the Six Nations this year! Thoroughly deserved, and a great way for O'Driscoll to finish off his international career! But yeah, the scene outside of the train station was manic, so i hopped over one of the fences and jumped on to a train to London, which luckily stopped in Bristol! If i hadn't done that i probably would have waited around for a couple of hours, so the slight evasion of security was definitely worth it, NOT THAT I ENCOURAGE THAT.

Arrived home to find my mum had cooked me corned beed hash! Which was amazing. I'd never had it before, and now i want more, so it was probably a success haha.

Played a bit of guitar as well, taking a break to type this up, and then might stick on a movie! While typing this i'm listening to Kanye West's first album; College Dropout. Getting in to hip-hop at the moment, and as a general rule I HATE Kanye West. But this album is fantastic, so is recommended by me if you fancy a lil' bit of an OG soundtrack to your evening!

Today has been lovely.

This is going to be an extremely short post, because i'm back in Cardiff with Jo for the night, and want to spend as much as my time with her that I can! I'll talk about last night in tomorrows post, when I have more time to vent thoughts properly.

Me and Jo did go for a nice walk tonight through Bute Park earlier though!

I love her so much!

Like I said, tomorrow will be longer! It's now time for more bad 90's rom-roms!

TODAY WAS A FUN DAY!

Was still in Cardiff this morning! Had a lengthy lie in with Jo after watching the Hunger Games last night, then semi-rushed around to get ready in time for her parents to arrive! It was nice to see them as well, we went for lunch in the centre of town and then did a little bit of wandering around the shops! Both me and Jo's dad tried this really weird pale ale from America called Shipyard i think. Smelt and tasted like nectarines, or some kind of citrus fruit. Never the less it went really well with my chicken club sandwich so meh.

The rugby today kicked off at three, so as soon as it did i had it up on my phone streaming. BIG game today, like i mentioned in yesterdays entry. After changing the ink in Jo's printer for her, and saying a long goodbye, i climbed into the back of her parents car and set off home! All the way back we had the game on the radio, while i streamed it on my phone. GLAD TO SAY ENGLAND WON. It was kind of expected of them to do so, due to Wales not really being in form at the moment, there were still some tense moments though!

After getting home i went round my dads to have a quick catch up, and pick up his old pool cue from him! I haven't seen my dad for a few months, so it was nice to sit down and chat. I don't really see him much at the moment because of the lack of time i have. Luckily it's the kind of relationship we have so not a lot of damage is done by not seeing each other, all that was done a long time ago haha! YAY for parent issues... I was picking up the pool cue because i've started playing a bit more recently! Me and a few guys from work have played a couple of times, and i'm enjoying it! It's giving me something else to get out of bed for as well which is never a bad thing!!

I'm about to play a bit of guitar before i hit the hay tonight! Obviously didn't get to play all weekend, so i'll make up for that now!

While writing this entry i was listening to my friend Taz streaming on mixlr! Essentially it's an audio streaming website where you can put on mini radio shows to anyone who cares to listen! It's pretty nifty, and i gave it a go earlier on! I really enjoyed doing it, so that's another thing to do weekly!! Taz has been playing all sorts of singer songwriter stuff, so it's pretty chilled which is nice. One track he played was James Vincent McMorrow; Red Dust. This track's off of his latest album called Post Tropical, and has some INSANE songs on. A really beautifully written album, well worth checking out!

It's been a long day!

Which is by no means a bad thing. I've spent my long day with Josephine, so i'm grateful for the feeling of extra time. We were both complaining about the size of her bed here at uni last night, which is actually the first time we've really noticed it. Apparently according to Jo, because I don't remember this, I moaned about being uncomfortable and then instantly fell asleep, which sounds about right for me ahha! I've never really had a problem sleeping where ever I am, as long as it's dark in my chosen crashing spot. I am looking forward to her having a double bed next year though!

So we had a long lie in this morning, followed by being made pancakes by Jo's flatmate OJ. OJ's from Bristol, can be extremely loud at times, and looks after my baby when i'm not around. She also makes kickass pancakes so she definitely gets my approval haha. Me and Jo then headed in to town to sort out some banking that she had to do, then went for a little wander around the city! We found some awesome vintage clothing shops in a few of the arcades dotted around the place, and also found ourselves in the charity shops! I'm in search now for a denim jacket for myself because of Jo's recommendation, but it has to instantly grab me when I try it on. I found a few today that were pretty badass, but unfortunately weren't quite right, the search goes on... Jo also found herself one of the most amazing cupcakes I've ever seen! It was pretty much made entirely of white chocolate buttercream icing, also tasted pretty good!

We've had dinner, mainly consisting of potato wedges and various dips, along with pizza and chicken kievs. We've also watched crufts, because any excuse for Jo to watch dogs trotting around is a good one! We're about to settle down now, and watch The Hunger Games on dvd. Both myself and Jo love the series, we read the books together a few years ago now, and we still haven't seen the second film yet! So we're watching the first one again to make do until we see it!

Also a quick mention about the rugby today! I love rugby, have done since I was thirteen. I haven't played for years, but I still like to follow what's happening in the premiership and also the international tournaments. Me and my friend James have a bet going that either Ireland or Wales will win this year. I said Wales due to them having won it twice in a row, and he said Ireland due to them generally being the better team. I'm regretting this now, because it looks like i'm gonna have to fork out £10 which is never good. The game tomorrow, England vs. Wales, is going to be huge! But alas, I won't be able to watch it because Jo's parents are coming to visit and we're all going out for lunch. Definitely going to stream the score on my phone though haha. Also no music tonight! Just didn't bother to put any on, not gonna lie!

Today was a tender day...

As I mentioned in my previous post, I went out last night! Taz (my future Bristol roommate) came round my place after we finished uni to do the usual pre-drink/chat thing. Me and Taz always manage to find stuff to talk about, hence why he's one of my favourite people. We stuck on some records while we were drinking, first listening to my favourite album of last year; Black Milk - No Poison No Paradise. Was also nice to find out that it was a limited edition purple splatter disc copy, one sexy ass LP that one. Then we put on the COOLEST record I own; Dread Zeppelin - Un-led-ed from 1990. Essentially Led Zeppelin, but mixed with reggae, with Elvis inspired vocals! Funky as hell at points. Also worth noting that i've taken a sample from this record to use in a project i'm working on! More on that later... After the records we hit the Dragon Inn, which is probably my favourite pub in Weston-Super-Mare, where we met up with a few guys I work with. From that point onwards it was a pretty standard night out! We moved on to the Loft for super cheap drinks before hitting our main hangout on nights out, DB's. I lost Taz I think around three in the morning? Neither he or myself can remember haha... I was turfed out at half four, then I stumbled to the taxi rank to eventually get home and fall asleep on top of my clean laundry. Good times.

I eventually got up at midday today! Felt a little tender, so I sat for an hour in front of the tv drinking apple juice and groaning like a seal. After the usual post night out shit and shower however, I felt all dandy again. Left home at around two o'clock this afternoon to run down to the train station to get a train surprisingly! Was in a folky mood, so I stuck on The Tallest Man On Earth, Frank Turner, and James Vincent McMorrow for the journey. Arrived in Cardiff at half four, and was hugging my girlfriend ten minutes later!

Speaking of which, meet Jo! :

Obviously she's the attractive one on the right!! I'm in Cardiff for the weekend to visit my baby. She's here for uni studying law, and is much more intelligent than I am. Luckily she can't sing to save her life so we balance out pretty well! I didn't come up here and see her enough for her first term this year, which was my fault entirely. This term i'm doubling my efforts and spending as much time with her as I can. Otherwise I get all grumpy and no one wants that!!

We went out for a meal tonight at Ruby Tuesdays. Basically it's a TGI Friday's rip off, but the food was AMAZING. With each meal you get unlimited drink refills, and unlimited fries! I had ribs, men like ribs, so I had ribs. Jo had ribs too, and chicken, and shrimp. She's more manly than me when it comes to food sometimes haha.

We're not doing anything else big tonight, just going to spend our time together. No idea what we're going to do tomorrow except go to the bank, but i'm sure we'll find something!

Right now i'm listening to Hunger by the band LITE. Taz showed me this band, because he's all about math rock at the moment.  They're a really cool Japanese project, and i'll be seeing them at ArcTanGent festival this year! Which is gonna be huuuuge! My summer is actually shaping up to be a good one this year! Anyway yeah, LITE are an awesome band, so anyone who wants to should definitely check out their latest full length called Installation!

Gonna go now, need another shit, and want to see my girlfriend!

06/03/2014

It is a good day. My first blog post...

I don't really know why i'm starting this up. I guess one of the major reasons is that this year is my "transition" year. By that i mean that this year i will leave education, and move out in to the big bad world to start the rest of my life.

I'm currently twenty years old, live in a small town on the coast of the south west, and have a gorgeous girlfriend of almost three years! As mentioned earlier, i will be leaving university this year with a FdA in Music Production. Essentially one day i want to be a studio technician, but the more i think about it, the less drive i have for that particular career, we'll see...

Once uni is over, myself and a close friend are planning to move out of home, and in to a small flat in Bristol. This is where we have decided to try and make a name for ourselves in the music business, through gaining experience with musicians local to us, and being poor for a very, very, VERY long time. I've known this guy for eight years now, so who better to start the next part of my life with? Chances are he, along with other friends, will be heavily mentioned throughout this year, so you can learn more about him later. I mean we'll probably fuck up the whole living away from home thing, but who cares if we have some amazing stories haha!

The next part of my life worth mentioning is probably the best part of it, my girlfriend. I met her when i was seventeen, in my first year of college, sat at a table in the canteen on campus. We didn't speak to each other, so i don't think it really counts as a first "meeting", but i saw her, and instantly knew that i had to talk her. That evening i was speaking to a friend of mine, and asked who the girl sat opposite us was. He told me her name, i hit her up on Facebook, and we've spoken every single day since! It turned out, weirdly, that we lived quite literally down the road from each other. We were the same age, lived in the same village, and we had never met before! We still talk about that and find it funny, but anyway... We've travelled together, visiting France, Spain, Ireland, and Lanzarote. We enjoy going to music festivals together, and plan to live together one day, once she's out of education herself. The bottom line is, i love this girl, have done for a very long time, and want to for a lot, lot longer. She has enough patience to love me, i couldn't ask for more.

I play a lot of music myself with my trusty guitar, and sometimes with my bass if the opportunity arises. I enjoy drinking far too much, mainly for the social aspect, partially for the drunkenness. I eat far too much protein but hey, it's better than smoking full time, which i managed to quit doing this year!!!

I'm looking forwards to reading these entires back next year, if i stick with it that is. ALSO i'm going out tonight! So tomorrows entry should be entertaining!
